this might be a stupid question but i have a marzocchi drop off triple and it says it gets 6 inches of travel but i measured my sanction (please don't ask why, i was bored) from the bottom of the fork tower to the first crown and it is about 7 and 3/4's inches long why is this? does it get 7 inches of travel or is there some reason it is that long?

i think that model had the non-adjustable crowns. Its an OEM fork, so they may have specced an unusually high axle/crown height for its travel, or it may have a weird mix of 7" uppers and 6" lowers.
well, the point was that unless you have a 3.0 installed, and are bottoming it out, creating a potentially larger diameter of tire on the topside of the wheel than the bottom that is compressing cause you are running 8psi, the distance between the tire and crown may seem excesssive, but untill you actually test out this situation, it's hard to make any judgements, because the fork was designed to run with certain max tire size, which dictates that axle to crown.

when you bottom out your suspention the sliders dont touch the crown. you can go through all your travel and the crown can still be an inch above the dust seals.if you have your crown at its max height this affects this

On the marz forks with the lame cryo-fit crown the fork lowers leave about 3/4 to 1 inch of exposed stanchion when bottomed out. I could never figure out why I wasn't getting "full travel" when I got my first DC fork (03 jr.t).

Could be couse marz forks are super tall?
I think that is it. They have always had long legs. Even if the bottom crown is not adjustable, it would make sense for Marzocchi to only produce one leg for all DC forks. Some have 7" of travel, so the 6" fork ends up being tall. Thats my theory anyway.

Am I the only one who realized he said he measured his sanction? Apparently he can no longer ship arms to Iraq I guess.
You are not the only one. Looking at the title I figured this was some thread about not getting long travel forks or DH size rotors.

sorry for my "spell" typo or "vocabulary" typo but what do you mean about running a 3.0 tire? the max size possible to run on the fork is 2.7. i'm running 2.5's
