Disclaimer: This is not an anti-marzocchi rant, simply putting information out there and seeing if anybody else has had this problem.

So, I got an 888 a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it on the first ride. I rode it twice on a local freeride trail and then loaded up the bike and drove back to school. When I unloaded it I noticed some oil on the lowers, starting at the bottoms and going about half way up. I figured it maybe had been shipped like that, wiped it down and forgot about it. Well, I didn't get to ride it again until yesterday, and once again, when I was done riding I noticed oil on the lowers. I was particularly concerned since the trail I rode had no drops or anything that I thought would put any stress on the fork. So, I wiped it down again, grabbed the front brake a few times to see if the caliper was leaking, and put the bike away.

Well, today, I made sure there was no noticeable oil on the legs, I did a small drop to see if the problem presented itself again, and sure enough there was oil seeping down the legs. I couldn't figure it out because the oil was seeping down from parts in the middle of the legs. Further investigation showed 2 hairline fractures, completely unnoticeable if not for the oil leaking out of them. Each leg apparently has a very small crack (in different places on each leg) that allows very small amounts of oil to seep out when the fork is compressed.

Needless to say, it's back at the shop ready to be shipped back to Marzocchi. Anybody have a problem like this before?

dude that sucks, it seems as if the lowers on these forks are made fairly thin to achieve a nice light weight.

I've heard of people snapping the thru axle clamps and now this...... ouch

Havent heard about that one. A friend of mine recieved his fork with the oil seals in upside down. Every compression grabbed a glob og oil and pushed it to the top. They sent him the stuff to fix it himself, and now every thing is running right. he was pretty pissed though. seems like pretty basic QC shoulda caught that,,,,,

That sucks, there have been a few instances with people having defective stanchions right out of the box, including myself.
I bought an 04 super T in october and it had a 3in long mark in the stanction right out of the box.

Noticed it this afternoon, fork has been ridden since wednesday last week.
Yep, mine looked exactly like that. One on each leg.

On the bright side, I'll have it back next week.

No leaks on mine...but it seems that my fork and a buddys compression adjuster doesn't work? Anyone else have this problem?
