Hey,
I bought a used 2004 888 RC (or whatever the fully adjustable one was) off a guy last year, and the fork has been sittin in my basement all winter, up until i mounted it last week. I finally got to ride my bike today and the fork is in bad shape. Once compressed there's about 1" or a little less of stanchion tube that doesn't completely return all the way up. Then when you pull up on the bars/fork, there's a harsh "clunk" sound/feel (similar to when bottoming out) it feels as if the stanchions r pulling up on the lowers. What can I do to fix this etc? Also where should the crowns be (both of them)
Thanks

Tale it apart and see if the rod is broken, you can unscrew the top cap and push the stanchion down. The rods are very easy to break if you don't treat them right during maintence. The compression side has most movement that the rebound side ie you can pull it up higher. You want the lower crown to be between the lines marked on the tubs. The top placement if going to depend on your headtube and stack heights, you should at least have all the clamp on the tube.

Hope that helps.
