I need to replace the seals on my 2006 888 - I can't find a tech download anywhere that tells me how to take my fork apart - anyone have an idea on where I can find one?
You may also be able to call Marz directly and get them to send you the OEM seals, oil and tools, or get them at a shop.
You will also need Oil. The fork comes stock with 7.5wt, but you can run 10wt if you are heavier (which I don't think you are)
There is a Marzocchi Branded oil which they sell for like $20 for a 16oz bottle. The Marzocchi Oil is actually just repackaged Golden Spectro. http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=7828
You can also use other brands. Just go to a motorcycle shop and get some. Fork oil at a motorcycle shop is like $10 for 1 Liter bottle, and that should last 2 oil changes.
The last thing you will need is the seal removal tool, dust cap installation tool, and seal installation tool. You can use a screwdriver with a bunch of black tape wrapped around it for the removal tool, and you can use a piece of PVC pipe for the dust cap installation, but you'll need the Marz tool to seat the new seals. http://bikeusa.com/page.cfm?PageID=55&action=details&sku=TL9503
I think I saw that Snowshoe had one of the tools hanging on the wall for a price of $30.
I've got that tool, you can come to my house and I can help you seat the seals if you want.
