somewhere really ****ty
Hey, I need to change the oil and I am looking for someone with the real tech manual for it that shows how to take it apart and everything. Not the crappy one that comes with the fork and tells you absolutely nothing. I just want to make sure I do everything right and don't want to take a chance at messing anything up. The only marz I have worked on was an 03 super t which is probably much simpler than the 888.

Changing the oil is super simple in the RC2X, you really dont need to take much apart to just do that.

1. Remove the fork from the bike. Makes the whole process way easier.

2. Remove the top crown (probably already done to remove the fork from the frame. Loosen the pinch bolts on the lower crown slightly.

3. Using a hex wrench, remove the 2 small screws holding the knobs down, then pull up on the red preload dial and the black rebound and compression dials and red preload dials will come off together. BE CAREFULL to not loose the tiny ball bearings used to make them "click" I did and spent an hour on my hands and knees with a magnet looking for 1.

4. Use a adjustable cresent wrench to undo the 2 top caps located under the red preload dials. I think they are 28mm sockets but I just use a adjustable cresent wrench.

5. With both caps undone, compress the fork, both caps should "pop" out and the whole assembly will slide out of both legs. (Caps, preload sleeves, springs are all attached to the inner compression rods.) Fully compress the fork.

6. Slowly tip the fork over and drain the oil. Once all the oil is out from the first pour, cycle the fork about half way a few times and drain the rest. This will get the oil out that was in the dampers.

7. Replace with your choice of oil, 7.5wt/210cc is the stock weight and level per leg. You can go up to 10wt and 220cc per leg if you are a bigger rider (200lbs +)

8. Reverse the process to put it back together:)

One quick tip, dont take off anything except the brake caliper and the wheel. Losen all the pinch bolts that hold the stanchions to the crown and just slide the fork out of the crowns. That reduces your time by a lot. Plus its a whole hell of a lot easier and you dont have to re adjust your headset.

can any one post up the proper 888RC2X or 888RC Manual
or even an exploded view of the fork, that would be ideal :)

not really liking this idea of a universal manual which is quite useless that the website and hardcopy you get provided with :(

thanks

makes 23 clicks when it made 22 clicks..,I ve opened
the fork
again but I havent found anything strange, can I have
made a mistake and put the wrong spring or sleeve
preload in the other leg or vice versa??? please I
