Stone Temple Pilots (before kicking heroin)
Were you a Friend of Dorothy?Back in the day I saw a band from Kansas called Dorothy that blew me away and I was very surprised they never made it big.
They are still around playing in Seattle fairly often - I think a new CD is due for release soon. Or so I heard on the radio. The Presidents of the United States of America
Has there ever been a band with a longer name?
the Jesus Lizard
Swervedriver
Slowdive
Tar
Big Dipper
Spacemen 3
Angel'In Heavy Syrup
3D's
Cake Kitchen
so many more
I dunno what that means, but I did buy the band a couple rounds after their set and offered nothing but praise and free promo/CD cover design as well and the front man was psyched by the praise. Were you a Friend of Dorothy?
Man! I was just listening to "In The Meantime" today! I won tickets to go see them from my local radio station back when I was 17. It was an 18 and over show though...Ahhh - your list made me think of Spacehog, narlus.
Yeah, I heard they broke up when their lead singer died.
Ohhh - I forgot about that. I am excited when I hear it. Thanks for the reminder.Heard the Hum song "Stars" song on a Cadillac commercial the other day. I liked that song in high school, guess I'm starting to get into their demographic.
So I of course flipped on the iPod and had to listen to it on my way to the store.
I'm not sure if I've seen that video before...
Also, big ups for the guy who said Stone Roses. I know I'm in the minority, but I think I prefer their second album honestly.

I dunno, most of my favorite Alice songs were written by Cantrell, not Staley. If Cantrell was still doing a lot of their writing, they still could be pretty good. I did like Staley's vocals though. It would be interesting to see what Alice in Chains would be doing now if the original singer was still around.
that entire Sub Pop/Amphetamine Reptile/Touch and Go/SST/Homestead roster was pretty tough to beat.Man! I was just listening to "In The Meantime" today! I won tickets to go see them from my local radio station back when I was 17. It was an 18 and over show though...

Good call on MOAM! Saw them twice before they got all "space age"...
Probably no connection, at least none that I know of.Weird, I listened to that song by Helmet yesterday - actually that whole album. Connection?

I was a fan of Husker Du* in the 80s but couldn't get into Bob Mould solo. He still tours but I can't remember the last time I heard him on the radio.Bob Mould solo and then Sugar.
