I have no idea how those of you who are pro shooters lug around one of these kind of lenses all day. I just picked up a used Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 AF ED and it's way heavier than the body it attaches to.

Bonus feature though: can be used to club a bear to death if I am ever lost in the woods.

You get used to it pretty fast.

My memory may be failing me and it might not have been him but I think I saw him at schladming WC with a gear mule person

tbh. I was a lens mule once myself when my camera failed at one comp but im no pro.

the 300 f/2.8 is handholdable...done it a few times.


the 400 f/2.8 is definitely not. at least not for very long.

400 2.8 is hand holdable, definitely not for very long though. Monopod is pretty key for any extended shooting, luckily I don't need to use mine much anymore.

I handhold my 300 2.8 every day, monopods annoy me. It's not really that heavy once you get used to it.
