Anyone Using:

Hope Mono 6 Ti Disc Brakes? Thoughts?

Truvativ Gigapipe Max Ti Bottom Bracket? (Or Any BB w/ Ti Spindle)? DH/Freeride Thoughts?

I just Ordered the Hope Mono 6 Ti Discs and the Truvativ BB to use on my DH Bike. Any Thoughts, Experiences, or whatever is appreciated.

I am making an attempt to lighten the bike up.
The only thing I have been thinking about is the Titanium spindle and breakage. I used Titanium parts including Axles, and Spindles for years when I was into BMX. Years later, I'm doing DH and I am thinking of Strong but light. I am soon replacing the Cartridge in my Marzocchi Shiver DC with the Stratos custom ID Cartridge for the Shiver and replacing the Internals with Titanium Springs Plus going to a Tubeless setup also. With these upgrades, My bike should weigh under 35 lbs. when it's all said an done.

35 pounds with a shiver, HA. sorry, but everytime I hear those two words together I laugh. The hopes are a bitchin' choice, just make sure you bleed them right.

Everyone is kinda grumpy around here lately, sorry.

My Bike already weighs in at 42lbs. w/ a Shiver. You might be right, but I just wanna get it to as close to 35lbs. as possible. I am betting It will weigh around between 33-36 lbs and thats close enough. Still lighter than most other DH bikes. With or without a shiver fork.

Well, bud, you won't be able to get it down to 35#. If the right parts are picked, you can get a DH bike a hair under 40 lbs (38, 39lbs). There is no way you could do it with a Shiver. My DH bike (shiver included) is 43 lbs. It does have a heavy duty shimano BB (I want it that way since I've have destroyed a Race Face BB) and heavy wheelset (D321's). All told, I could shave off 4 lbs easily (Shiver to Boxxer, 3 lbs savings), ti BB, carbon fiber handlebar, and swapping out 321s to 521's. I don't think it is necessary (IMO) to do so without having to compromise strength and durability for light weight.

In summary, choose one: lightweight & more maintenance OR heavier & durable. I chose the latter :D
