I missed it on the 12th too. The grain is typically caused by high ISO although it is hard to tell in those shots. Zoom in real close 500% or more and if peoples skin, or any black area and look for multi color grin, if that is there it is likley the ISO on the grainy shots is higher.

These were all with 400 ISO kodak, except the one of me racing.

If they were scanned then the question is are the negs./prints grainy?

The negatives don't seem grainy, although it's hard to tell because they are small.
