    1. can i run compact gearing on a letoy 4 (singlespeed)? compact as in 25-9
    2. does pvc work well as spacers if i plan on doing a homemade ss conversion, or would i be better off using aluminum tubing? i have both on hand.
    3. does any company make an adaptor to go from manitou brake mounts to IS? i do not want to buy new hopes.

    1. sure why not
    2. whats stronger PVC or Carbon? used pvc a couple of times headset spacers are not for strength but to just compress the fork/headset
    3. Hope makes an adapter. but you'll have to run a 20mm bigger rotor

try robbing some old cassettes for the little alu spacers that go between the sprockets and then make an ss kit out of that. allows you to fine tune your chainline too.

To DHS, the reason i asked about compact gearing is because you need to worry about chainstay clearance.

I would say PVC would seem stronger for the application (it seems it would hold up better to compression, and grinding of chain if it ever fell off)

    No problem about the rotor.

To MisterMental, thanks for the tip.
