I'm in the market for a good multi-tool to pack on the trails when we go out.

What are some of the more important tools that I should want or require in a "good" tool?

i've seen some with bottle openers and such but honestly... as fun as it sounds.... I'm not going to be going on the trails with a six-er of Miller Lite!


Anyhow, I've seen a few on ebay but I'm not sure whats "good" and whats "junk" and whats "just plain stupid".

Any tips are appreciated, as always

that alien works very well and does it all. or you can wait around untill the fj cruizer folks from toyota are at a race and get a picture taken and get one of there nifty tools for free.

The crank bros multi tool with chain breaker is one of the nicest ive seen. Realy durable.

I have to vote for the Alien - but the spoke wrenches with this one is nice!

I'm partial to the Spin Doctor Skeleton, it's very compact and even has a chain tool. Well worth the $10 and then some.

I just purchased the Topeak Mini 18+ this season. So far, I like it. Small, compact, and a solid construction with all the tools you need.
