so riding at Kingdom Trails this past weekend made me think a bit about the tires i'm using right now. seems that most of my fellow monkey's were running Kenda's, and Splat recommended the Nevegal to me. so in looking them up, which size should i run for front and rear and do i go with the Stick E, the DTC, DTC with side wall shield, wire or folding? i would figure that the stick e would be good for the NE with all the roots and rocks and a side wall shield sounds good too, but i'm a rookie at this and need some help.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
I personally run Kenda tires and love them. I used to always run the Stick-E compound, and got great traction on roots (even when they were wet) the only draw-back was that they wear out fast. Right now, I am running some DTC tires and they are quite good as well. If you're riding in a place with lots of sharp rocks and have had issues with sidewall tears, it might be a good idea to try out the side wall shield option. As for wire/folding, for XC I always choose folding because they tend to be quite a bit lighter. As for size, again it depends on your comfort level. I used to run 2.35 tires but when I switched to tubeless, I could only get 2.1-2.2. If you aren't racing and are looking for comfort and reliability, I would probably go with the 2.35 front & rear in DTC with side wall shield and see what you think. In addition to the Nevegals, I would also recommend checking out the Blue Grooves...that's what I have and am liking right now. I used to like the Kinetics too and they are supposed to be redesigning them and re-releasing them early next season so they might be good to check out as well.

Hope that helps!
