Quantcast

A new, rocky, kinda crazy line...

Cory and i went out earlier this week and decided that it was time to build something pretty heavy on the mountain in Calaveras... the trails that are up there right now are already very fast, rocky and fun, but there are no jumps and they are only 30sec to a minute long:biggrin:
so we found this natural precipice and built this sketchy, insanely accelerative line...

the lip...

all you see before you are sitting 10' in the air...

its actually a very small jump, but it has a lot of kick and elevation loss, so it looks huge like in the riding pics below...

i didnt upload all of the pics to my Flickr, but i posted the rest on pinkbike, so just follow the links...
run in
immediate run in
^^ you cant let off the brakes until youre pretty much on the lip, its that steep...
landing to acceleration to drop to acceleration to berm to acceleration
drop to berm

and then the berm and layout from below...

and finally, me hitting it... first and last time for the next couple months i imagine because i ruined my fork the next day... and have no money as usual

i'm attempting to brake, but its not doing anything!!!

we definitley look forward to nailing this line down and making it flow into a new trail were scoping out... we just realized how nice the dirt is on that mountain, so we are super amped to make a killer trail that actually has turns in it!

haha, thanks!
were(i'm) actually planning to make a triple line where you launch from the same spot, but land down in this long tranny that basically makes up the left side of the drop...
probably 25' long and 10-12' down:shocked:

were just gonna have to build a stronger berm!
slowing down is already impossible as is!

i tried to remove my PAR chamber, but messed a bunch of stuff up... lost oil and dont know how to put it back in, ruined the valve stem on the foot of the fork and probably ruined something else... just to be fair...

the second and LAST time i will try to work on suspension... both times have ended in totally blowing the whole shock

so bummed too because this line is soo fun!

We're definately going to have to get more helmet cam once we get a little more work done. This new stuff is making our old footage look outdated :shakefist:
