We did a system for a couple of municipalities and they were using the Panasonic toughbook series ruggedized notebooks.

I have a friend in Salt Lake City that works for a software company that is producing an ap that will allow, via cellular internet complete integration of local police, fire departments and give immediate access to warrants from other states etc. Pretty bitchin.
