Deficit spending, a huge reliance on debt issuance, an inability to balance the budget, and a deficit in the current account (is that the trade term?) are just a few things that could potentially lead to stagflation. The fact that Congress is showing at least some restraint in the recent Homeland Security budget talks is giving me some hope though that they won't just keep writing blank checks (like for the war).
