A non-cycling friend commented to me about how crazy the Olympic course looked. I looked it over, and I pointed out this video in response:

Mark Weir racing the Downieville DH

Which this section was used last year in the XC race.

In comparison, the Olympic course looks tough, but all the sections are straight shot roll-thrus.

I think the course builders did a good job considering there is no native rocks or roots. However, I would like to see more uneven trails, small drops, and if possible, lots of elevation. Let's see if Rio can do better.

BTW, after watching the men's race, I think it was technical enough, a decent course for xc bikes.

i was mesmerized by the high quality spanish trim in attendance at the gold medal game of basketball....sorry.

it was tough no doubt but i'm not sure how tech. I didnt see the mens race but it took the women almost an hour and a half to do 18 miles. I've been smoked by the pro chic's enough to respect.
