ABC’s "20/20" Seeking "Armed Citizen" Stories
Gun ban groups often claim that private citizens rarely, if ever, use guns in self-defense. ABC News’ "20/20" is now putting that claim to the test, asking viewers to submit their own real-life "Armed Citizen" stories. ABC’s website asks:

Have you ever defended yourself from a crime in your home, in your business, or in public by using a gun? Perhaps you warded off a potential attacker by simply showing a gun?

If you’ve personally used a gun in a legitimate act of self-protection against a criminal attacker, we encourage you to tell your story to ABC News. To tell your story, go to http://www.abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=3015150 and complete their web form.

And to ensure that we at NRA know how many responses ABC gets, please send us a copy of your story by e-mailing armedcitizen@nrahq.org. You can also call NRA Public Affairs at (703) 267-1193.

My respect for you just increased ten fold. WE must fight for our rights.

Besides, I think the fact that oakland & richmond & compton has so many murders is a good thing. If all the gang bangers have guns, maybe they will kill themselves all off. No Sarcasm in that statement

W.W. Beauchamp: Who, uh, who'd you kill first?
Will Munny: Huh?
W.W. Beauchamp: When confronted by superior numbers, an experienced gunfighter will always fire on the best shot first.
Will Munny: Is that so?
W.W. Beauchamp: Yeah, Little Bill told me that. And you probably killed him first, didn't you?
Will Munny: I was lucky in the order, but I've always been lucky when it comes to killin' folks.
W.W. Beauchamp: And so, who was next? It was Clyde, right? You must have killed Clyde. Well, it could have been Deputy Andy. Wasn't it? Or, or...
[Will points the rifle in his face]
Will Munny: All I can tell you is who's gonna be last.
[Beauchamp quickly exits out the front door]

Platform politics, i would certainly hope that mt. bikers get on board with more pertinant issues that we can actually influence, like keeping trails from being closed to us. Issues like gun control, gay marriage, abortion, they're just hot buttons that'll never really move one way or the other. Why should they, politicians are thriving on these issues to motivate their base.

N 8 would only get involved in mt. bike advocacy if it meant that 29 inch wheels would become standard.

some time back on the way home from work, some guys got into a road rage contest & ended it in a shootout, right there on the boulevard. the dead guy had just left a bar, filled w/ liquid courage. would they have acted like jackasses had they not been packin? i bet to a lesser degree. this anecdote suggests guns embolden people.

why yes, they were driving full-sized trucks. why do you ask?

in Alb several years ago, my buddy was using an ATM off Central Ave when some street riff-raff started hasseling him... when it esclated to a physical confrontation i hopped out of my truck and flashed my .45 gov model... the sight of the weapon was enough to motivate the bum to leave in a hurry.

Well, today in Blacksburg was certainly not an armed citizen success story...then again, the law-abiding on the campus were the unarmed ones.

Another story sure to sink the polarized deeper into their poles.

But indeed, this was a gun-free zone...and another criminal somehow missed that fact. Maybe the answer is bigger signs...?

Maybe try changing American culture and society, the root cause of **** like this, instead of bitching and moaning on hot-button issues like gun control?

I've decided women need to run the world.

Well, yeah, I'm all for that, actually. But owning guns or not is not part of the problem...criminal behavior and its causes are. Which, despite emotions, are not fundamentally related to the presence or absence of guns.

Nor does simply ignoring the omnipresence of evil or destructive people make you safe. No matter how "healthy" society is, there are always going to be violent people, period.

Which is why I want to be like the guy in Snow Crash and have a nuke with me at all times that is wired to go off if my heart stops beating.

At the very least, I'd imagine that I'd get a little more space from drivers when I'm out riding road...

Hmmm, maybe start dining exclusively on day-old carne asada burritos...? Might have a similar effect.

I have never shot or brandished any of my weapons at any living thing. I consider myself fortunate thus far, as I have no desire to do so. Should the $hit ever hit the fan, though, at least I will have that last resort option, no matter how wretched it may be.

colleges are already filled to the gills w/ drunk knuckleheads. adding guns to the mix sounds like a swell plan.
I've heard that a friend with a 44 on his waist at a frat house helps when you nail a deliveryman with a water balloon - course that was back in the 60s:brows:

I was at a frat party where one of the drunken members decided it was time for everyone to leave and a good way to motivate them was by whipping out his glock and pointing it at people. A real bunch of winners there. A few years later the same place got shut down for bestiality and cruelty to animals.
