i'm having problems pulling the lower bearings out of an 01 AC2...the one with the asymmetrical chainstays..

i'm trying to tear it apart for powdercoating. i was able to simply unscrew the bolt and bearing on the nondrive side, but the drive side just spins and spins. i've tried knocking it out with a punch, but i might have been hitting too lightly because i'm unsure that's the right way.

anyone ever take one of these apart?

A punch or a large socket is the best ghetto way to do it. Otherwise a bearing puller works....

thanks dan, i was thinking the solution was just a bigger hammer... but i have a tendency to break things that way :D
A bigger hammer ALWAYS gets things apart. It just somtimes makes putting it back together a little harder

yeah give the socket a try, try to find one that just fits into the bearing bore.
or a bearing sized socket on one side, and a bigger socket on the other that the bearing can slide through while bracing against the frame bore. Slide a nut and bolt through the whole thing and torque it; the sockets will move towards each other and pull the bearing out. Basically a home-made bearing extractor.
