well, as long as you don't use that memory card to take more photos, you can retrieve them.

this thing rocks. i thought my shots from the Robyn Hitchcock show were gone forever, thanks to an overzealous tour manager, but i salvaged the 14 i took this evening.

I use an app called photorescue. It is bar none the absolute best tool in the industry for boneheads (I've had to use it more than once). I haven't tried it on harddrives, but I am told it works just as well.

A sandisk recovery disc came with my extreme 3. Has anyone used it?

Is it possible to recover photos on a card that went through the washing machine? That happened to pics of Mt. Ranier last year...

Cards that go through the washing machine shouldn't even need recovery. CF cards can stand up to a lot of abuse, a while back there was a magazine that did a test were they microwaved, washed, droped, kicked, generaly beat the hell out of a few cards, it took a lot to harm one.

That said Photorecue is great, I've had a few cards fail, and gotten back just about everything.
