We mentioned this to one of the guys at CK last year and he just about dropped the phone in shock and disgust. Part of the draw of buying a set of King hubs is that they are warrantied for so long. I think trying to drill the axle out yourself will probably void the warranty, not to mention that it will be nearly impossible for anyone without a machine shop to drill to 12.005 mm straight through the axle exactly so that an axle will actually slide through and (simultaneously) not be sloppy.
Save the Kings for a bike with QR dropouts and pick up a Hadley or even one of the new Atomic MTN rear hubs. Please, think of the children.

:eviltongu i did it with a 12mm bit and a hand drill, while proping the wheel up on bricks. I had no slop in that setup. However if this isnt a hub you already have listen to the above drunk and get a hadley
Instead of drilling your rear hub out and risking that it may never ber used as a hub again.
go out and buy 2 of the same bolts u currently have that screw into the fun bolt set up on the king hub make sure they are at least the thickness of your threw axle drop longer then the current bolt. Then find the Norco 10 to 12mm axle spacers and put those in the dropouts, Voila 12mm hub from the 10mm bolts in the fun hub.
