Hi,
Wondering what tools I'll need to adjust a Hadley 20mm front hub (bearings are breaking in and have loosened up a little bit). Looks like 2 cone wrenches and some sort of spanner. Wondering if I can work around having to buy the specific tools. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No cone wrenches needed to adjust but... The bearing pre-load is adjusted by the collar with the small holes on the non disk side. The easiest/cheapest thing that i have found to adjust this is a red handled park tool pin spanner. You might need to file it a little but it is less than 10$ and easily found at most shops.

Will this same tool work for the Hadley rear hub? I just started riding one built up with a 521 and didn't know proprietary tools were part of the deal.

I've seen more than a few people use non-hadley tools on both front and rear hadleys, with good results. You can modify an existing pin spanner, make your own pin spanner out of small bolts and some metal, or rig up another spanner. I like the idea of welding pins onto the end of a crescent wrench, with the tips poking out the side of the jaws. Viola, you have an adjustable spanner wrench.

yes, the red pin spanner works for the front and rear. The adj is on the disk side of the rear though.
