There has always been an ad there. It just looks a little different now. Good detective work though.....

I noticed that a while ago, then they went away, so I thought the owners of RM realized it was a bad idea. NOw they're back, so they must be a better money generator than a bad idea.

It does impact the time I spend on RM, but let the market decide.

Anyone else notice the header and add load quick, but the forum text below takes a few seconds longer?? or is it just my set-up?

Either way, the ads are a bit much and starts to feel like MTBR, which I never even joined due to all the commercialism.

Towing the party line.
This is because the forum pages are dynamically generated from a very large, very busy database.

If you don't like the ads, buy a premium membership. Running this site is far from cheap and costs more per month than some people's rent.

So before there were Google ads after the first post, often times not bike related at all, and now there is a bike related ad instead, and because of that you spend less time here?
:hmm:

Adblock firefox extension seems to work. I may be wrong, it might be something in the company firewall. But I am running Adblock and don't see any ads.

I have an idea, why don't we just charge membership for RM in general. That way those bitching about seeing ads on the website, which costs Adam money to provide free for them, put up or shut up. That will also keep most of the under 20 crowd on Pinkbike, as they are poor.

I once complained about the loud smiley faces that scream at you when you load a page.

Apparently one of the mods wasn't pleased, cause my membership was cancelled shortly thereafter.

LOL right dude. Nobody has ever been banned for complaining about an ad. What does "membership cancelled" mean anyway?

And nobody liked the smiley ads - I don't blame you for complaining.

You may be right....I received a PM from a Mod, saying basically to STFU. Shortly thereafter, I was no longer able to log on using my previous username, so I assumed.

Dont freak out, I used the term "membership cancelled" out of lack of better words.

What was your previous username?

And trust me, nobody on this board is banned without a good reason. I'm sure people disagree with those reasons sometimes, but there's always a reason. Complaining about an ad isn't one of them. Regardless of whatever PM you might have received.
