If your loved one becomes seriously ill, ask the vet: "Are the procedures you're recommending just to prolong their life or are they designed to nurse him back to health." If the doc doesn't give you a straight answer, demand it. I know if the day comes for you to ask these questions, you'll be really stressed out for many reasons, but demand some clarity.

I know vet doctors don't want to be held responsible, but I'm a bit pissed at my doctors. They've kind of let me know that what my cat is currently going thru is somewhat typical and that IF he gets better, it'll be another week or two of the same ****.

Frankly, the doctor's should've told me to put him to sleep a week ago. Failing that, they should've given me a bigger picture, more info. More frankly... if I was in my cat's position, I'd be pissed that my family was forcing me to go thru it.

what the hell do I know about veterinarian medicine? I don't know what god forsaken questions to ask. All doctors should volunteer info cuz most of us don't know crap.

So, if this ever happens to you... demand some B&W answers, demand the bigger picture. Even if they can't tell you anything definitively, you'll likely get more info out of them.

Sorry to hear about your kitty! :( You're right though...Dr.s do give vague answers just because they don't want to be held accountable. I always demad the big picture and continue with the biatch routine until I get the straight out truth. Good luck!!!

I appreciate that. I'm sure my vet team is outstanding. My complaint is with doctors in general.

It's too late now, he'll either recover or I'm going to put him to sleep. I'm tempted to do it now cuz he just seems so unhappy, but I keep thinking I should wait a few more days.

When I lived in COS I would drive to Castle Rock to go to The Cat Specialist( http://www.catspecialist.com/ ). Far and away the best kitty vet I've ever dealt with. Super-knowledgable and up-to-date on all things cat. Always very honest about treatments and results. Might be worth the drive in the future.
