Im thinkin of getting my hands on a Z150 fork but I have very bad experiences of forks with air inside. I know this fork uses both springs and air but my question is:

Do I really have to run air in this fork or will it work without it?

I would also be happy if someone shared some info about how it works in general. I have read the reviews at mtbr.com but I want some fresh opinions!

thanks

For what it's worth, I run a Z150 and I really can't tell any difference with the "air-preload." What exactly is 5psi (or whatever the mfr spec is) going to do??? The fork is super smooth and very nice, so I haven't really worried about it at all.... maybe when I take it apart at the end of the season I'll look into the air, but for now....

i have a z150. so far i have had no problems with the air perload. the thing that is weird about these fork is that there is 3 version that are on the market. i have the most recent version. mine only have one air perlaod. i run it inbetween 10-15 psi( i weight 240lbs). 15 psi is the max for my version. the air perload for me is a life saver. lets me tune the fork for what i'm gonig to be donig for the day.

you can run it with no perload but it is gonig to be really soft it you weight over like 140 lbs.

Yeah, the preload isn't necessary for me unless im steppin it up for bigger drops, but I'm a pinner little guy (126 yay!). Its a great fork, plush and bottomless.
