Albany XC riding?

Friend of mine will be on a business trip to downtown albany proper. he'll be rollin out around 5pm, for three days.
(mon-wed) and will be bringing his bike. he doesnt leave the ground, but technical is good. gotta be in the woods.

where are some good places (hopefully local recommended) that are within, say, an hour from DT albany?

any thoughts or suggestions would be mighty appreciated!

Jiminy Peak is about an hour from DT albany, and it could have some good XC if you just went the wrong way up some of the trails ;) i've only ridden DH there, but i'm sure that a lot of the trails, espeically ones that go up to the summit would be fun for an XC ride.
as for in Albany, rumor has it there are some good trails somewhere, but i dont know where the are, even though i should (i got to the U of Albany). best bet would probably be to go ask someone at a bike shop where they are, if he can get to one. the 2 that i know of are both pretty good, and easy to get to. PM if you want directions on how to get there!

dude you could bike from uptown campus to the trail head in....maybe 15-20 minutes

right up washington ave ext, past crossgates, keep going straight, past the water tower...and 1/8 mile more - enjoy

I could show you around the place - most people go & dont find any of good stuff

that'd be aewsome. i've been looking for people to ride with in albany. there are like 2 people at my school who bike. :\
i'll drop you a PM when i get to school (moving in august 28th).

I highly recommend Pine Bush (super easy to find) and with Doug as a tour guide you will get the hookup. Fun place to ride.....jdcamb

closest is Pine Bush...about 10 minutes from downtown, I may be able o give him a tour

Sand Bush only fills the in the woods requirement. :blah:
