Maybe there is hope for lawyers (and for America) yet.

Future American lawyers to be proud of...
and Alberto Gonzales.

Alberto Gonzales spoke before law students at Georgetown today, justifying illegal, unauthorized surveilance of US citizens, but during the course of his speech the students in class did something pretty ballsy and brave. They got up from their seats and turned their backs to him.

Obviously not - they apparently have a sense of what is right vs. what is wrong. That will get them NOWHERE...

All of these students will promptly be put on a confidential CIA watch list and under surveillance for the rest of their lives as "under suspicion of terrorist activities."

Law students, or students in general = highly impressionable toward biases (Washington Post). Most have yet to be in the real world, and taste life as it is and can be. Those pukes at that meeting are a direct indication of how "one-way" the opposition can be. How about sit your butt down and take it in, and take it for what it's worth.

If I was Mr. Gonzalas I would shake my head and laugh, wish them good luck, and carry-on with my plan of the "allegedly" illegal wire taps. HA!

Of course you're right, once again. I mean, what the hell would they know about law, they're in law school, so clearly they're dummies who having to learn what law is, when the rest of us are smart enough to just believe the government who do, after all, love us dearly and treasure us as if we were their own.

I don't think Montana has much to worry about government spying. Look who was hiding out there...

Thats what happens when you float through life on daddy's dime. You dont have to account for yourself so you spend all your time accounting for others

HHhahahahahaaaaaahahahaaaaa.... oh man, this guy just keeps getting better with every post. So by definition, someone pursuing an education is more impressionable than someone who doesn't pursue an education? Which is to say, someone who is training themselves in critical thinking (the foundation of Western education) is less critical than someone who isn't.

Sorry, how do you know they weren't listening? How do you know they didn't research the legality of the administrations actions prior to the speech? From what I gather, you've accepted the wiretapping as fully legal... seems awfully one-sided to me to just accept it without any thought, criticism, or research.

But you're not Mr. Gonzales. He is, at least, a lawyer. You're a former Marine from Montana that works on engines... but thanks for weighing in with your expertise. I have yet to see you post ANYTHING that is at all specific or indicates any form of subject knowledge. Until you do so, and show you've actually thought about these issues instead of swallowing the party line like a puppy getting his milk-bone, you're just another tool in the propaganda pocket, too weak-minded to think for yourself.

That more accurately describes Bush than it does the average class of law students. Do you have any idea the proportion of law students that take out student loans vs. those that are able to pay up front (with daddy's dime)? I didn't think so.

You seem to spend an awful lot of time accounting for others, yourself.

Oh and by the way, 'your a tool' is incorrect - when shortening 'you are' one needs to punctuate indicating the point at which letters have been dropped, like this:

You're a tool.

Oooooooohhh, someone's angry. Temper, temper.

Elitist, yes. No doubt.

Party line, hardly, but good on you to think of a original insult to throw back at me.

That's awesome!

It becomes more and more evident to me that Ohio (fresno kid) has some self-respect problems, and puts everything he hates about himself in everyone of his posts.

Think about what you just asked me ya noob and think about why people, including myself, pursue a higher education. Now, think about the kind of people who they get their education from. Their word is gospel? Horse ****! The good ones will tell you to think criticly about what they are "teaching," but most have the same mentality you put to your keyboard "I'm right, your wrong, and it's ok to commit adultry!"

You noob, you're an ant, drowning in dingleberry soup that's sitting in a slippery bowl. There is no way out for you and yours, and I understand that, so no hard feelings, mmmkayyy!

Nope, just an simple-minded draft-dodging rich boy, who's never had to work for anything in his life, and never had to take responsibility for his mistakes so he just keeps making them, totally ignorant of the consequences. If I were a liberal, I'd blame that on society, but I'm not, so I don't. I blame it on him.

Don't confuse the current administration with America. They seem to do enough of that themselves.

I don't believe I have ever expressed a positive or negative opinion about Hillary. Feel free to point one out though.

Iraq was an secular country ruled by a vicious dictator, and hobbled by economic sanctions. Now it is a radically Islamist war-zone, ruled by no one and unsafe to walk through for anyone. We spent roughly $2000 of your money (assuming you pay taxes) to achieve that. We could almost argue it was worth it if there was a chance of the war coming to an end and being followed by a period of peace, democracy, and prosperity... but nothing would indicate that pipe dream is even remotely possible.

Naw, I actually get along really well with a couple of staunch conservatives. However, unlike you, they happen to be intelligent, thoughtful, and critical... they support their arguments with factual premises and logical reasoning. They challenge my beliefs and force me to deepen my understanding of issues and often to adapt or change my stance on issues. Maybe you can take lessons? I'd put you in touch, but I really don't think even they would waste time on you.

You'll have to try harder than that. Recruit some help if you need to.

Also, do yourself a favor and "think criticly" about your spelling and grammar. It's hard to respect an argument coming from someone that writes and spells like angry 3rd grade girl on AIM.

Weak! So if what I said is true, Ohio has the mentality of a 3rd grade girl? Oh my goodness. I'm done responding to you.

This is argument of "Edjumaction, who needs it?"

Every schmuck who doesn't learn to shut up and learn how to think instead starts yelling about "who needs college?" or "who are you to tell me wrong?" And if you might offer an differing opinion, then response is to yell even louder.

When I hang out with my Ph.D friends, anything that comes out of your mouth better be well reasoned or they will dissect it in a second. No, they don't live in Ivory Towers. They are regular people with regular problems and desires. But I have to learned to be analytical.

I also have a bunch of friends who never went to college. They also have good logic but they are also familiar all kinds of derailling tactics to win arguments. Now, I am also familiar with these debating tactics.

Alwaysbroncing, you can be some dumass yelling about whatever offends you, and I will put you on my ignore list and you eventually be booted off this site. But you decide to relax, read, learn, and offer some well thought out comments, it would beneficial to all.

Sanjuro, I ask a question and an attack on my character immediately follows. This whole business of attacking the character of anyone who disagrees with YOUR point of view seems to be most of these peoples' ONLY business. I offer a little insight from my point of view, and a character attack immediately follows. I argue a point, and guess what? They attack my character. I'm not instigating this crap, but to my own dismay, I follow in suit.

Don't put the blame of attacking anyone who disagrees with me, solely on me. Look at the majority of the first replies to my thread, and you won't see content, you will see people attacking my character and motives, not attacking my questions.

So, put me on the ignore list and ignore me, or try and change my mind with some intelligence, but please don't try and correct my spelling. It's the last thing I'm worried about in a forum.
