So since the thread about Karpiel has gotten pretty big, here's a new update. When I heard the news, I got on the phone and called the Washoe County Sheriff's office. I also called the Washoe County Clerk to see what bank was in charge of the forclosure. I called them and ACTUALLY he hasn't been forclosed on yet. They said the business was officially started in 1997 and on 7/7/04 they restricted the business which isn't a FORCLOSURE! The gentlemen on the phone said they are working something out and Jan will MOST LIKELY be back up and running soon! Good News for a Great Guy!

4) I'm glad you like your bike, I liked my disco too but Jan has shown consistent and sometimes blatant disregard for the people that provided him with his business and the closing of his shop (even if temporary) as well as the bashing no doubt stems from this rather over publicized fact. He makes bikes that lots of people enjoy riding but he was either too spread out to handle his own business or just really didn't care that much about it's success.

Don't get me wrong, I always respect people who aren't afraid to take things into their own hands and it makes sense knowing there's a chance his leftovers may be liquidated. I guess only time will tell if he rebounds for real though. What a sheriff's office knows about the business and what Jan's intentions are may differ. I hope for the bike owners' sake, they can still get support.

yeah, my ex-boss would stop answering the phone when people wanted money and he had nothing to give in return, even when he still was in buisness. He also kept his company running to the bitter end, borrowing money from friends he could never pay back, taking material deposits from customers and using it for back-pay, hiring contractors he had no way of paying for after the work was done. But at least he managed that trip to Switzerland before closing up....
