seems to me mccain should be elected if only b/c he's realistic enough to know there's a not-so-insignificant number of groups who exist because of their opposition & won't go away.
the situation really comes down to this: for a presidency to be defined by the differences between us & do something based upon it would effectively be like pre-war iraq: segregated.
or is there a different form of unity that doesn't involve submission?
