3" stroke shocks have been around before the introduction of metric shocks, and I think V10's moved from a 2.75" to a 3" quite awhile ago. I had a 2006 V10 that had a 2.75 (and a stupid AF high leverage ratio), but I thought they went to a 3" not long after that.
They went back to a 2.75 with the first gen 27.5 frame. Because with steve peat, greg minnaar and bryceland they didn't have any bigger guys riding them.
