OK, I tried but I do NOT like I-tunes. Not at all. Is there an alternative software one could use?

And the next question is, is there anyway to load music from TWO computers that won't erase all that's on the Ipod? And while where at it, how can I access the Ipod itself when hooked to my PC?

Thanks for the help.

iTunes is how you talk to an iPod.

However I beleive there are hack apps out there that can do other stuff. Never tried any of 'em.

i've heard windows media also works w/ an ipod. never tried it. but for a standalone music player i have (and always will) love winamp - but just the older versions. version 5.x was just too memory intensive.

It's not free but can be used on multiple computers and works very well.

Works OK so far. I have yet to manage the files better, but it does let me select what I want to do. Good choice!! Thanks!

I approve. :thumb:

ITunes blows. I've been using winamp with the ipod and it's worked pretty well so far. Now I just need to break down and buy a real mp3 player...

I dont understand whats not to like about itunes. What exactly cant you do? It seems like the cool RM thing is to dis Apple/Ipods. I have both and cant think of anything I would want to do that i cant because of software limitations.

While your Ipod is conected you go up to preferences. You deselect auto update. This will let you hook up to as many computers as you like you just have to drag and drop the music onto the ipod.

What exactly is the useu with itunes? I've tried a bunch of music systems and they all seem to work almost exactly the same.

I'm not dissin' Apple, I just would like to be able to edit the actual song entries that ar FUBAR is all. I-tunes does not allow me to do that.

I LOVE the I-pod though. great sound, simple operation. The dang headphones were a pleasant surprise insomuch as having a decent base response.

What do you want to edit exactly? iTunes lets you edit all the meta data I can think of.

if I-tunes is the only game in town , that is a bad thing . Compitition is good for every one.
and just because it fulfills all your needs does not mean it will take care of every ones needs.

uh, have you tried selecting File -> Get Info on the song or songs for which you wish to edit metadata?

You can also select multiple files and change them all at the same time.
Here's a weird one, that maybe someone has seen before. I went to re-rip some of my CDs into lossless format since I got a bigger iPod. When the system went to the web (CCBD?) to get the album information, several of the song names had changed -- usually in small ways, i.e. "singer (and soandso)" had become "singer", but iTunes did not recognize them as the same song and did not replace the lower quality version requiring a manula scrub.
Weird -- I would not have guessed that they would change names once the information was in the great music database on the web.
Oh, another handy iTunes feature -- "Show Duplicate Songs" under the Edit menu.

well you can go into "my computer" double click ipod..thne do show hidden files..after that it will show music..

the best thing to do to prevent problems, from the second computer go to calendar or like contacts and then drag and drop the music..then go to the host computer, and drop all the music onto ur desktop..import it all to the one itunes..just upload via itunes, then don't add any more music..
