Anyone knows a good tool to hold alumnium spokes as used in Mavic or I9 wheels? Currently I am using pliers and protect the spokes from the teeth with pieces of linoleum. Would love to find a better solution.

I've used a chunk of hardwood with a slot carved into it with great success.

I have tools to hold bladed steel spokes that would also work on Mavic road wheels because the aluminum spokes there are bladed. However, those Zirkal spokes on e.g. Crossmax SX (they came on used bikes, don't judge) are round.

How do you hold normal round steel spokes?
If they are 2.0 or 2.0-1.8-2.0 then not, thinner ones or straight pull, yes. Here I use pliers but steel does not get damaged by them. In contrast to steel, aluminum spokes should not like torsional force.
