I've got a pile of parts in my garage begging to be built into a bike. I'd like to have an AM hardtail again. What's the lowest, slackest hardtail you can think of built around a 130-160mm fork?

Go.

I had a stylus for a while and ditched it because it was too low and slack for my needs. Fwiw. I bet it's slacker than a trans am. The trans am is 650b now anyways. You may be able to find a 26 trans am used. The trans am can be built ss too I think. If that's your style...

Ragley BB is way too high. 26 or GTFO, though I'm open to the idea of going full Kidwoo and running 26" wheels on a 650b frame to make it lower.

Transam is steeper than I'd like. Appreciate the suggestions though, keep them coming.

What kind of numbers are you looking for? Ballpark.

Interested in a long Evil Sovereign? It was super fun trail bike with a 36.

Have you considered a custom frame builder? Waltworks seems to do just about any configuration of burly, short CS hardtail imaginable.

A current 21" Kona Explosif with 26" wheels and a longer fork (150mm) would get you pretty close to the numbers you are looking for. The new one has a ZS44/ZS56 headtube which would give you some headangle tweaking freedom. It's not a super burly frame, but it's a reasonable weight with good geo and the 12x142mm sliding dropouts are nice.

Close, but I'd want more standover clearance and less stack than that.

I think a Stylus is still the best idea thus far. Keep 'em coming though!

The Stylus does look good, I just wonder about the Reach. The large has a 24" TT with a pretty slack 71* SA. I can't imagine the Reach is much more than 16.5".

I know. I'd probably end up running a slightly longer stem on it than I'd consider ideal, but I could live with it.

Is custom too expensive? Seems close-ish, but you could get exactly what you're looking for (minus potential stack issues)

Great list so far.

I'll second the NS Eccentric CroMo or even the new ALU version. Very low with 26" wheels and fairly reasonable pricing.

cotic bfe?

be careful with the planet X bikes. The reaches are super short (the longest might be 2" shorter than what you're looking for), at least on some of their frames. The parkwood (their ultra-gay 29er) has like a 16.1" reach in the large size, but somehow a 24.5" eTT.

Da fuq? Does it have a 43 degree seat tube angle or something?
