Perhaps the lounge could use a thread like this.....perhaps not.....

Am I the only one out there in cyberland that is super stoked when you make permanent plans for the weekend's ride?

I just sent off an email confirming that I'm up for a Saturday morning mild climb/push and then a sweet DH trail. I know that I will be able to block out the eight hours of crap I'll have to deal with tomorrow (and yes it is crap).

It's even better when you nail things down a week or two in advance. You can really put up with the garbage at the office....only because you know that the fun is not very far away....

Who else blocks out the office garbage because you know you have a ride coming up?! I can't be the only one. Do you have ride pics plastered in your cubicle? Do you talk endlessly about the roller you are finally going to hit with the guy who sits next to you and has no idea what you are talking about?

Huh?!? Riding for the weekend is coming! I realized that this isn't a shaved junk thread, but I figured I'd give it a shot....

I do that, the guy that works next to me is going to kill me if he has to hear any more about "spring rates" or "coil vs air", but if he's going to talk about his Camero, I'm going to talk about digin trails and my F1.
Good to hear that I'm not alone! (my coworkers give me the "deer in the headlights look") I can't comment too much on the Camaro thing though..... I've had four of them and actually sold my 68 RS/SS to buy my home. I was checking out the 2007 and I LOVE it!

I am all about that. Recently I'm super stoked to just make plans to dig.

i just made a plan with 2 riding friends that we are going riding every two weeks. the second and 4th sunday in a month... it seems easier that way.. usually its "come on lets go riding tommorow" and its too late usually someone will have other plans by then. if you set something up in advance then there are no excuses

See...that's alright...what isn't o.k. is a busted, rusted, no back window, always one on blocks (must own at least two..) Camaro boneyard with all the cars being from an 80's music video...
/Rant off

Yeah, I get super excited when I know I'm going out for a weekend ride...even more so when I'm going racing...no one here (at work) really understands what I do and when I come back, banged up all to hell, they wonder what I did and why I keep doing it....sigh....I need to get some video footage that I can diseminate it to the office so I can finally show them that it's not just riding on some gravel road out in the sticks...

"Yeah, I snapped my frame in half off this 15' drop and slammed into the ground and got a concussion and a LOT of soreness..."

"Oh......wow.....why would you do that for fun???!!!"

*B*tch slap*

/Rant Off.....again.....

Go Ride!!!!

For the most part I just get on and ride; I find that unplanned excursions are often the most rewarding.
:stupid: Though, with the baby around we'll definitely have to have a plan for 99% of our rides :( Actually, we have generally had a standing Tuesday night ride together, Friday night ride with the co-workers and Saturday AM ride together in the past and those have always proved to be fun as well so I think we'll be fine.

I have ride pics plastered on my office walls and as my computer desktop and my bike is propped up in the corner staring at me longingly.

That's why you (or me, rather) need to surround yourself with other bike geeks. Then you have entire days spent talking about what tires you should run on your new XC bike, or debating the merits of cable-actuated vs. hydraulic disc brakes, or compact vs. standard cranksets for road bikes.
But the drawback is when you get home, you don't even want to look at your bikes, which is a shame because my bikes need some work...

Where are you riding?

I'll be taking my trusty AC1 to Suicide in Agoura....

Believe me, I'd love to talk about bikes all day! I've grown pretty tired of talking about plastics.....
