Between a rock and a hard place.
Went to the ALMS race today at "Historic Laguna Seca Raceway" in Monterey. Yeah, home of the 'Otter, it was wierd being there w/o the sound of Larry Longo's voice and not seeing the DS course up on the hill.

The race started at 4pm and ran till 8pm finishing in the dark and racing about the last 30min in the rain.

Anyway, the racing was great, and the cars.......oh my god the cars!
The Corvette C5r's flat dominated the GTS class (finishing 1-2) which was down to three by the end of the day (the Saleen GTS was awesome, but not as dialed as the C5rs), the Vettes beat all but three LMP1 cars, ALL of LMP2.

The Ferrari had no game. Got smoked by the Vettes and about three 911s to come in 11th on the day.

The Vipers flailed.

Straightaway speed for the Vettes was the same as the LMP1 cars, but the LMPs make tons of downforce and corner better.

The LMP track record for Laguna Seca is only 1.78 sec off the CART track record....zowie.

The Audi LMP cars are silent killers. So fast, so smooth, so dialed. The drivers looked like they were out for a sunday cruise on Hwy1 not knocking down 1:15s on one of the toughest road courses in the world.

Anyway, if you get a chance to see a ALMS race, do it. Good stuff.
