Looking for some input, just picked up a 40 cal, looking for a few choices on ammo, something for home defense, and something that would be a good target ammo. The home defense I am not too worried about price seeing I will probably never use it, but target ammo something that is a good price yet reliable.

I am usually a revolver guy, but decided to move to a pistol, specifically the Springfield xd 40......

you definitely want a bullet with a bonded core/jacket for self-defense/duty ammo. as for target ammo, any brass cased FMJ ammunition is fine. just pick whatever's the cheapest.

40 Calories can't be more than a few bites of Mac and Cheese. Cannot see how it would be worth it.

Start with .40 cal...go from there. Avoid .50 cal...too big for the XD. Which is a nice pistola by the way...

I already did start with the .40 caliber XD..... i just do not have the experience with the loads yet. Target is target, but I was wondering what a good load for personal defense is with this particular caliber........

Love the xd, I love being able to completly strip it in ten seconds or less...

Sooooo...... Cleared two mags for a warmup, qualified in one mag at 10 yards, ended up putting around a hundred rounds through it today... cleaned her all up and I have to say I am very happy with the purchase

As stated in another thread (Forget where...) I am holding out for the new .45 the Marines are buying...something about the 1911 frame I have always loved.

Think I saw that one, what I liked about these is they are not too small, not too hi of a velocity, but def hold the stopping power still.
