Who has mad Excel skillz..???

I have a spreadsheet that I need to email to someone but the sheet I am sending them relies on data stored in some 130+ other Excel spreadsheets.

Is there a way to 'lock' the numeric value in the cell and dispense with the cell formula so I don't have to send the entire database..?

For example in one cell I have:

='Z:\NNN\UTILITIES FOLDER\RESALE\FY 04\[Jul_04.xls]Electric Billing'!$F$97

...and I want to only send the value which is =485,523

There are a couple of ways you can do it. Actually you can just send the spreadsheet as is and when they open it they will get a message asking if they want to open it using the existing values or try to link back to the originating document. Obviously they want to open using the existing values. If you want to eliminate that message from popping up there is a work around.

Save a new copy of your workbook. Then go to the sheet with all the linked cells. Select the entire sheet. You can do this by click on the box between column a and row 1, then right click copy, then right click "Paste special" another box will come up and select "Values." That will paste just the current values right back into your sheet. They will lose any other forumula data as well.

Hope that helps

N8 you can use this solution only if it is NOT for the purpose of propogating your right-wing BS propoganda:

Select the cells, to a Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard. Then, RIGHT click the upper-left-most cell in the selection, select Paste Special, and select Values.

Done.

Or..........for the long work-around, use UNC pathing instead of mapped drives then anyone that has access to that share can open those files without having to worry about dead links.
