That is full of so much win.

Some of my favorites...

If you push anti-gay legislation and make anti-gay speeches, you should probably take a pass on having gay sex, regardless of whether it's 2004 or 2010. This is true, too, if you're taking GOP money and giving anti-gay rants on CNN. Taking right-wing money and GOP favors to write anti-gay stories for news sites while working as a gay prostitute, doubles down on both the hypocrisy and the prostitution. This is especially true if you claim your anti-gay stand is God's stand, too.

When you chair the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, you can't send sexy emails to 16-year-old boys (illegal anyway, but you made it hypocritical as well).

You can't flip out when the black president bows to foreign dignitaries, as appropriate for their culture, when you were silent when the white presidents did the same. Bush. Nixon. Ike. You didn't even make a peep when Bush held hands and kissed (on the mouth) leaders of countries that are not on "kissing terms" with the US.
You can't complain that the undies bomber was read his Miranda rights under Obama when the shoe bomber was read his Miranda rights under Bush and you remained silent. (And, no, Newt -- the shoe bomber was not a US citizen either, so there is no difference.)

Holy crap, as an ex-Republican, I could've written that myself I agree with it so much. I still maintain that if you go back and look at the Contract with America, it was NOWHERE NEAR as far-right-wing-racist-nut-job as the current GOP is. Can you imagine the frothing at the mouth if the CwA was reintroduced today? Nothing about abortion. Almost nothing about tax cuts. Nothing about guns. Nothing about God and school prayer in the classroom. Balancing the budget. Etc.

Hey - I'm one of those too. I even went to a Jesse Helms rally in high school. :thumb:
Voted for McCain in the primaries in 2000, voted for Bob Barr in the general (was PISSED at GWB), and started realizing that the lies, the hyperbole, the bullsh!t water-carrying for their extreme agenda, was all so over the top, so designed to push their far-right-wing agenda, that it just totally turned me off. And what happened in the meantime? The GOP fell out of power, and they turned FARTHER RIGHT!! They proceeded to kick out any RINOs, they turned to far-right racist groups, and have basically pissed off even more of the population. I'm somewhat hopeful that with the rise in popularity of the health care bill, the rise in popularity of the president, (an improving economy?) and the utter stupidity of the GOP that they'll get shellacked again in November. Maybe, just *maybe* they'll realize that getting beaten, badly, in 3 consecutive elections that they'll have to change their tune and try to recapture the middle...

Hey, I can have my wild fantasies, dammit!

First comment. FIRST:
So I suppose you hold the democrats to the same standard right? They are responsible for every action by every person who is a member of their party, or supports them, right? Every outrageous statement ever made, any crime ever committed, any act of adultery? You want me to take the time to make up some stupid ass list like you produced, with stories about Gerry Studds (the page rapist), Barney Frank (the gay porn ring), Ted Kennedy(drunken, philandering murderer) , Chris Dodd (drunken philanderer), the cheater Edwards, the serial harasser and molester Clinton, the Klan man Byrd, the other Klan man Duke, the terrorist Ayers, all the murderers, thieves, and rapists in prison who are democrats (that's the bulk of them). Gee, making lists is fun, huh?
Let's not address our problems, let's just redirect. Classic.

Voted for McCain in the primaries in 2000
Was a registered Dem, but probably would have voted for OG McCain had he survived the primaries. Amazing that on the motorcycling forum I frequent, I was characterized as a Stalinist. Literally. I'm a slightly left and slightly libertarian leaning moderate by any kind of objective measure, but our politics in this country have just become so obscured by partisanship and ideology that you can't actually discuss positions on specific issues, and you certainly can't find middle ground.

The ad hominem attacks can go both ways for sure. The difference, as I see it, is the dems are less hypocritical about their thrusting and grunting. Hypocrisy and willful ignorance have become the mainstays of the Repugs.

I think if you do a search on this forum you can find me praising McCain as a man I'd be proud to have as president. Given his behavior and the true nature of his personality (a petty, mean, and ignorant boy) in the last couple of years, that was a huge bullet dodged.

But we dodged a bullet and instead got hit by the train (GWB).

I still maintain that I like McCain2000, not his later release McCain2.0 where he was basically the opposite of whatever McCain2000 was.

I too supported McCain when he basically was talked about what he beleived in and not what he thought the Republicans wanted to hear. I can't find the thread but there was a site where you could map your political beliefs. It seems that most monkeys were pretty moderate. The republican bashing has more to do with them having moved so far to the right that it is a joke. The saddest part is that there are probably a lot of moderates who support the Republican cause not because of the ideology but because of some kind of self image. Neo-con Republican supporters seem to me like the rabid face painting sports fan who lives and breaths their team even when they know their teams sucks.

Not a train. A train kills you quick. More like leprosy.

I don't know if McCain was a different man, or if we didn't just see his true side. Either way, he's a dickhole now.

I got a letter from the government
The other day
I opened and read it
It said they were suckers
They wanted me for their socialism or whatever
Picture me given' a damn - I said never
Here is a land that never gave a damn
About a white man like me and myself
Because they never did
I wasn't wit' it, but just that very minute...
It occured to me
The n*gg*rs had authority
