I don't care about it that much but no fantasy league, their site is shit in terms of content and their are closing their print division. Is it only me or is future killing dirt?
I think what you are trying to say is it seems they are doing it to themselves... or that they have no one to blame but themselves...

I tend to agree. I remember a few years back when Dirt was killing it with their world cup coverage and web edits. That's when I decided to subscribe to the print edition. I figured they were doing such a good job bringing me the WC goods, that I had to support them somehow. Then the UCI took away their ability to bring us coverage, then they got on the big-wheel bandwagon, and then I realized I couldn't really understand what Jonesy was blathering on about. It's like he needed a senior editor rather than being the senior editor... so I let my subscription lapse in December. Now I feel bad.

I sincerely hope they are in a regrouping phase and trying to develop a long term strategy for sustainability. As much as his writing confused me, there is no denying Jones knows bikes. Maybe a web format where he has to be more succinct will be helpful. A world without Dirt would be a boring world indeed, so I hope they figure this web thing out...

The thing is I still really like their ride reports. They are well written, informative and they go to interesting places. They also work with people who have great insights. Yes I stopped reading his reviews because you could give shiny parts on a long piece of turd and he would still be happy but I'm yet to find a magazine with similar level of journalism. They often interviewed interesting people, not just well known pros and managers and went to interesting places. Hell it was kinda inspirational for what I did locally. There are a few online mags that are trying but they aren't as original and their articles are usually short on writing and info.

Also yes they did it to themselves. It seems like they don't care anymore. That or they lost some of their staff and that's a problem. It's sad because either I'm very bad at looking or there are no sources of very good bike journalism anymore. There are some decent ones but they usually write about stuff we already know about.

Man, I know I'm not imagining waiting until the race was over and then just getting the replay immediately after. I did that a lot. And I'm pretty sure it was last year. I had a SYSTEM! And it was good!

I just can't remember if that was last year or not

This! Seems like a great combo. Also Claudio is so nice and soft spoken that Warner could increase his alcohol intake while commentating again.
Agreed- and Claudio needs to get Warner onto some more course previews. Warner riding down the "wall of glass" during women's practice was priceless!

It does. Though I would rather they organized it in places that will be open after the world cup goes away.

If you want a fantasy league, I'd be willing to look into it, but I really don't know how that works, so somebody would have to take the reins...

mtb-news.de offers a world cup betting game and fantasy league creation. The site is in german and requires registration, but the forum interface can be set to English. The betting in itself is a simple drag and drop affair, you can have a look at the layout here: http://i.imgur.com/mstBxek.jpg

If enough people are interested i could set up a ridemonkey fantasy league.

In an effort to re-instoke the thread, some zingers from the Warner vault of winning -

"The king of the pop might be dead but we still have a thriller for you this afternoon, so don't sit at home and beat it."

"Offline line like a Russian border"

"It's wetter than a dolphin with a bladder infection out there"

"More packed than a Chinese cemetery. "

"Drink a pint of concrete and harden the fvck up"

"That was as unwanted as a ginger step child"

"How does he sit down with balls that big"

" I'm sweating like a whore in a church"

"He's letting it hang out like a fat bird in a bikini"

"He hits the deck harder than an old lady on a cruise ship"

"Messier than cooking a microwave burger in a trouser press!"

"Smith goes 1.18 up, it's the greatest comeback since Lazarus!"

"Is there a detective in the finish area, cos Brosnan just murdered this course!"

"He's going to need a lawyer for a case that big"

"He's on it! He's on song like an Austrian transvestite!"

"He's going to wake up feeling like his neck took a Viagra."

Question: Is anybody still racing on a 26" hooped bike? I can't think of any of the big boy teams...Point being, will 2014 Leogang be the last WC DH race ever won on a 26" bike?

(at least I think Ratty was still on a 26er V10c at Leogang, and on the goldilocks version at Windham)

Since the seeding run counts and bets need to be placed by noon tomorrow (central european time) i went ahead and created a fantasy league.

Go here, press sign up and create an account. Alternatively you can also sign up with either facebook, google or twitter. Please note that you can switch the language to American in the top right corner.

You can join the fantasy league right here.

Now place your bets for the Lourdes event.

If you have any trouble let me know, I'll gladly assist you.

Fuck and Yes :clapping: (real quick, clicking the 'Merkin flag in the top right corner doesn't seem to make 'Mericanese...am I doing it wrong?)

Also good to see PB athlete T. Hannah with the fastest split.
Switching to the Language of the Free only changes the language for account settings and the forum interface, not the language on the actual pages. The betting interface is pretty self explanatory though, just drag and drop and once you are signed up you can put everything through google translate.
