Anyone listen to NPR this morning?

The military is already putting together a proposal for attacking IRAN.

I'll look for the article on NPR.org

I don't think it is uncommon for the military to have planned such things without any intention of executing them. Now talking about them is stupid. And if we actually carry it out :dead: :dead: :dead: :dead: :dead: :dead:

Still looking for it.

They said it was a PPT for the chiefs of staff to review. They actually said that their experience in dealing with Iran is that they only respond to use of force and not politics.

I believe our military probably has hidden plans on how to deal with attacking Canada (Operation: Get behind the darkies) if came to it. The difference here is they are actually reviewing and taking plans with Iran seriously.

Things have gone so smoothly in Iraq that Iran just seems like the right thing to do.

One of the first major foreign policy challenges for a new Bush administration will be dealing with Iran. U.S. officials believe Iran is just a few years away from attaining a nuclear weapon and there's growing concern among some in Washington that diplomacy isn't enough to deal with the threat.

The Atlantic Monthly magazine recently arranged a mock war game to examine U.S. options if military force is used to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. As NPR's Michele Kelemen reports, the exercise showed how limited the options are.

Retired Air Force Col. Sam Gardiner ran the simulation. Armed with maps and charts in a slideshow, he laid out several options: one night of air strikes against Revolutionary Guard units to punish Iran if it meddles in Iraq; several days of air strikes aimed at Iran's nuclear program; or an all-out war to topple Tehran's clerical regime.

Military expert Michael Mazarr, playing the role of defense secretary, argued that just by starting to talk about military options, the White House closes off diplomatic options in dealing with Iran. Former Pentagon spokesman Ken Bacon, playing the role of chief of staff for the president, agreed.

"It's inconceivable that we could come up with a public affairs plan that would explain this, put a bright polish on it, that would bring allies along," Bacon said. "I think the military options have to be part of a broader array of options that we bring to the president."

Ya think? Put a happy spin on that one dumb asses!

Just check the PDF, IT's Cool as sh!t.

Shows what we could use, and how to set back Iran's nuclear program and make the world safer from it's terrorists.

Like I said before, I'm sure we've got plans to attack every freakin square foot of this earth in the pentagon. This is actually a "mock" proposal from the military to do this within 3 years.

But from what I heard on the news this morning we have actually started attacking middle schools. I gues it is part of Bushs new education program, get the kids used to being shot at early.

The military isn't creating any proposal...they're reviewing the ones that have been on file and updating them and making sure they're current. There are war plans on file for any possible contingency the US could face, I'm sure.

Why is it that people can criticize planning as warmongering, and then complain that there wasn't enough planning once the event happens?

That's not said with regard to me approving or even disapproving of current actions on either a moral or a strategic level; just noting the tendency...

That's what I was wondering too...

Besides on that NPR show this morning they clearly said that the Plan had to go back to Tampa for revision.... not that I'd listen to that sort of program though...

I listen to NPR every day and think it's one of the better news sources out there, especially on the radio...no real problems with it at all...and the fact that the planning is taking place is sort of newsworthy. But I didn't hear the story, either, so I can't say what the spin on it was.

I just have seen disaffected people bitching on both sides of the fence, and it's perplexed me. Certainly, no rational person should argue that the military shouldn't be prepared for any situation...plus, the planning actually serves a training purpose.

I guess if they weren't planning or fighting we'd be paying these guys to sit on their asses.

Well, there ARE lawns to be mowed, bales to be toted, things to be painted, laps to be run, beer to be drunk, indiscretions to be committed...

Glad to see you posting in here again. It's nice to read some clear reasoning instead of the ranting and lunacy of late.

Can we really afford another war? Especially one that could will spark even more supporters of the anti US ideal.

"As long as I am your president we will nt be held captive by terror". Our president is going to bankrupt us with his own fear and paranoia. Terrorism has him by the nutsack.

No we can't afford it, and we certainly don't have the manpower to do it. What nobody has mentioned is the part of the report that pointed out that Iran is 4 times the size of Iraq with a cosiderably larger population. If we're having a hard time managing what's going on in Iraq (too much real estate and not enough troops) how could we possibly do anything about Iran (or North Korea for that matter)?
