Baseball can't end soon enough, football is great and all - but now things really get fun. The NHL season is underway, and I couldn't be happier.

I just wish I had some extra cash for the NHL center ice package.

Gooooooo Devils!

Yep!

At least they are back to close to their original colors. Those grey, white, red and black jereseys just didn't go with the Sabres.

I think they should go Retro with their third jersey and sport the navy blue and gold colors again. And definitely they need to sport those socks with about a zillion gold stripes running across them.

Go Blackhawks! I have NHL Center Ice (Thanx wifey!). 40 games a week! Anyone want to buy some bikes, some hockey gear, a stereo, a dog, 3 kids, probably some other stuff too. No time, gotta watch tv!

JohnE - I feel sorry for you that you are a Blackhawks fan. That's even worse than being a Bruins fan. (that oughta get splat and others riled up a bit!) :)

Im a Blackhawks fan as well, but I only see them play a couple times a year. When they play the predators I make sure to go to the game, sporting my blackhawks jersey. That said, I also like the Predators, and they're stacked this year. They should easily make the playoffs.

...but the Blackhawks well, who knows?

I know, pity me. I was born into it though. As a kid, my Pops worked for the Hawks. I got to see alot of games back then. The Mikita through early Savard days, when the organIzation actually seemd to care about winning...I also like the Cubs...

Savvy was who I wanted to be as a kid (Along with about 9 million other skaters!). Ever see the video where he went coast to coast (to score) against the Oilers? I think he threw the spin on Charlie Huddy at the blueline. Pat Foley about shat himself!

Yea, I think so. Definitely better than the previous ones.
Barry Melrose ripped the new jerseys on ESPN last night, apparently oblivious to the irony of making such a commentary while rocking a pinkish suit jacket and greasy two-tone mullet.

Melrose! hahaha - who buys his suits?

Does Brian Engblomb still commentate at all? Now there's a classic balding mullet if ever there was one!

Go Habs!

I think he'll be better for them than Ray Emory. Maybe not in the long term, but Ray is too green for NHL playoff-level hockey.
Funny thing is, Emery has almost 3 times the playoff minutes Gerber has.

The Sens weakness has always been toughness and "grit" or the "will to win". When they don't win, everyone seems to end up blaming the goalie come off-season time.

perhaps, but he doesn't have much big game experience. Gerber had been in some very big international play and performed well. I think that gives him a leg up on Emery.

We have the Ottawa affiliate here in town so I saw a lot of Emery over the last few years. I think he'll be a solid NHL goalie... just needs to grow a bit.
