"But the Bible's very clear that prayer affects government," said Engle. "Esther's three-day fast changed public policy; Daniel's fast changed public policy; and it's the same, yesterday, today and forever, and that's why we're here."

He started his 3 year ministry at 30 which was the accepted age for becoming a Rabbi during those times...or something like that.

Yup, God definitely doesn't want those 40m people insured, and it's His Will that 18,000 of those will die each year from lack of health care. It's in the bible somewhere...
Yeah in the culture Jesus came from taking care of those in need was one of the highest forms of rightousness........but why bother to take culture or context into account.......

I think these folks would be shocked to learn that Moses inacted what we would call socalism, taking from the rich and giving to the poor, the whole year of the Jubilee was redistribution of wealth. One of the reasons Jesus was so pissed off at Herod was he was unbelievably wealthy while the "normal" people lived in perpetual poverty to support Herod's lifestyle (through taxes).

meanwhile... back on topic...

They crapped out this gem today:

http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/12/tea-partier-calls-c-span-worried-his-prayers-for-byrd-to-die-got-inhofe-instead.php

Someone calls in while Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) is answering the lines, practically in tears because Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) missed this morning's procedural vote on health care.

He was apparently concerned that -- after following Sen. Tom Coburn's (R-OK) instructions to pray that someone couldn't make a manager's amendment vote Sunday night -- his prayers for Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) to die struck the wrong senator.

"Our small tea bag group here in Waycross, we got our vigil together and took Dr. Coburn's instructions and prayed real hard that Sen. Byrd would either die or couldn't show up at the vote the other night," the caller said.

"How hard did you pray because I see one of our members was missing this morning. Did it backfire on us? One of our members died? How hard did you pray senator? Did you pray hard enough?" he continued, his voice breaking.
