Rex Grossman and Cooper's Colors make we want to vomit every time some redneck jackass who thinks the gov'mint is out to git his guns opens his dumb suck about how these two short illustrations frame his outlook on the world. So maybe Rick and I agree on something, if he's endorsing the article to which he linked.

Oddly, however, most of the guys who breathe Grossman and consider themselves "sheepdogs in condition yellow!" and post a lot on the Net about it (along with pictures of their tricked out, unreliable 1911s with Punisher-logo grips seated in $400 custom holsters) are also rabid Ron Paulians and tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorists.

The author of the blog, of course, is also a brain-dead moron, but at least he's not a Grossman fan.

Edit: To their credit, Grossman and Cooper are useful illustrations of limited concepts, but not a complete philosophy of life or even actually true in any sense. Cooper's 'condition yellow' is an impossibility...again, a useful description of a state of mind, but not actually something maintainable at all times. In reality, a constant state of such awareness is hypervigilance, which one only attains through the joys of having acute PTSD.

Edit II: Grossman's Sheepdogs are not limited to cops...most self-described "sheepdogs" are mall ninjas and fantasists who may or may not be competent with a weapon.

My beef is this:

Because he lost, he should not expect a cheap shot? My guess is he would have kept running if he could. He might have done much worse if given the opportunity. But because he laid out flat on the ground AFTER hauling ass and endangering lives in a car, then fleeing on foot, he gave up because he had to.

Now I'm not saying the shots were justified, but at the same time I don't blame them, either. I know I would punch the guy in the face.

Is fleeing on foot NOT resisting arrest?

I truly doubt the kick to the face was reasonable; however, from the cop's perspective, having just chased this guy in car and on foot, rounding a corner and seeing the guy there, "hey, he's submitting!" might not have been the first thought to cross his mind--the view from the helicopter gives us a calm bird's-eye view, along with full narrative.

Such circumstances (police perceptions, time constraints, and frame of mind) are considered in determining the reasonableness of the level of force used.

Possible, but not probable, that the cop can reasonably explain what he saw and why he did what he did. I can't imagine how a kick to the head would be 100% justified as his first use of force even if force was warranted, but again, my ability to draw conclusions from this video isn't the test of the matter.

She shouldn't have jaywalked. Got what she deserved. Cops risk their lives for you everyday. Just a few bad apples. High stress job. The video doesn't tell the whole story. What if she had a bomb in her uterus? At least they didn't sodomize her with a plunger handle.

Did I miss any of the usual suspects?
Ah, there it is!

With a title of "and we like sheep" I was expecting this to be a thread advocating for the rights of New Zealanders.

I was expecting the cover to the NOFX album "Heavy Petting Zoo". Then I noticed there was a comma between "we" and "like".

Precisely, this thread is a FAIL. Commas suck and ruin what could be good threads.
