Well, we are talking about people wearing tiaras and some King Arthur mythology bullshit, so it doesn't really surprise me. Plus, Saruman actually did some pretty cool MI6 stuff in WW2, and to my knowledge, that was accomplished without a palantir. No small task IMO...
