The highly irritating, massively annoying, headache inducing, multi-colored strobing Plasma TV ad is awful. If that sentence doesn't say it all, then here's 2 points.
1) When the random ad comes up, I immediatley scroll, refresh or just close the window. I do everything OTHER than click on the stupid ad, because I just want it to go away.
2) Yes, it draws attention. But, not the kind of attention I want when browsing RM at work!
Lose the ad RM! Tell the advertisers that their banner is irritating more people than it's attracting.
