Slander and libel aren't protected as free speech. I've seen people key cars for stuff as simple as having a "Fvck Norcal" sticker on their truck. I dunno, voter caging is a pretty giant violation of free speech.

There are just as many conservative rednecks who steal and deface Obama yard signs. So much so there is a webcam watch for one house who's sign has been stolen so many times they got tired of replacing it.

In many states, it is both a civil and criminal matter w/r/t the courts.

edit: That isn't even close to the definition of a police state, if you are worried about a police state, there are actual indicators instead of the jurisdiction of slander and libel cases

Right.

I visited my buddy who lives just a few blocks from Haight and Divisidero, and I noticed his next door neighbor had huge McCain/Palin posters in her window.

He thinks she is a local Republican big wig.

I left my firebombs and shotgun at home, so I just shrugged my shoulders and moved on.
