It's winter and we haven't spent enough time yammering on about inconsequential equipment choices. I'm here to change that.

Rims. I need em. Well, two.

I'm a lightweight (11 stone), wuss rider. I'm building up my first 29er. I build wheels. Rest of the bike can be junk, but gotta build the wheels.

Bikes going to be about 50% XC and 50% tow-the-kids-to-the-park cruiser ride. Yeah. I said that. So it's got to be compatible with the touring-ish tires. 35s maybe? 32s maybe? But hopefully still handle a modest XC tread (2.0"?)

Disc-specific. 36 holes. Black. Lightish.

Velocity VXC? Alex TD17? A317? Touring rims?

Whaddya think.

Alex TD-17's would be fine. They are cheap, reasonably light, and build up just fine. Some will say they are flexy, and maybe they are just a bit, but I weigh in at 240lbs and have had a set on my KM for almost 4 years now, and they are going strong.
