I'm a hair under 6'1", and my frame - Kink Apex - is a 20.5" TT (its a 2008, I think the TT is 20.5", the '09s are 20.75"). Either way... I'm starting to think its a little short for my size. It doesn't feel too small, but I've whacked my knees pretty good on the handlebars twice now. Would I be better off with something that has a longer TT? Something like a 21" or 21.5"? What else would it impact? Would it give me better leverage for hops and manuals?

That sounds way too small. At about your height, I ran a 21" top tube BMX with 8" bars (aka big setup) and it felt right. I would think a 21" would give you a bit more room to move around - it helped my riding a lot and actually made for quicker responses since I wasn't scared of hitting my knees etc. I think you should be on a 21" for a "standard" BMX fit, maybe a 21.5" if you like long bikes or ride big trails.

21 should be good for your height. I'm 6'1" and right now I ride a 21.5. It's fine, but I'm switching to a 21, hopefully tonight...

I rode primarily street (and park when I can). I'm trying to figure out how much larger I need to go. And to clarify the TT is 20.75". I emailed Kink to confirm. That quarter inch would make that much of a difference?

I think bars / general setup matter more. I liked 8" x 28" bars with a tall spacer setup a lot as far as roomy-ness goes. A quarter inch is a difference (one that I think impacts the bike a good amount) but it's not huge either.

right now I'm using Kink Badger Bars which are 8"x27" uncut, 12* backsweep 1* upsweep, and the bars feel great. I am just thinking I need a longer cockpit / TT.

My stem is an odyssey elementary - so 50mm. everything about the bars and stem feels fine... I really just think I need something longer (frame / TT wise).

Anyone in the LA area with a 21" or longer TT wanna meet up and let me take a ride? :lighten:

I would definitely suggest to try out a 21" tt frame. Im ~6' and used to ride a 20.5tt and it was giving me some lower back pain, so after riding my roommates 21"tt frame I decided to change out my 20.5"tt for a 21" and I haven't had any of the pain or anything I used to have, not to mention it just plain feels a lot nicer to ride.
