Another JrT question

The first inch of travel of my JrT is very rough. And I mean VERY rough. It feels like a totaly unbroken-in fork. I even hear the sound of the pieces rubbing one onto another during this first inch of stroke.

This is especially bad the first time I compress the fork after a few hours without using the bike. Then next couple of pumping are smoother.

Up to now, I probably have around 40 hours of riding on it. Is it possible it's not yet broken in? Could it be a spring that is rubbing on something in the first inch of stroke? Does anybody have encountered such a situation with a Marzocchi?

Thanks a lot!

I would tear into it, it doesn't sound normal, they are pretty plush right out of the box.

Uhh...I guess that means to take it apart and check if everything looks normal...right?

Should I check for damages at the bottom of the stanchions? Anything else that usually breaks on these forks that I should look for?

Thanks!

try lubing lubing the wipers with tri-flo. The nosie if it sounds like a clank is the springs in the fork hitting the insides of the legs. Its normal on long travel forks.

i'd take it apart and make sure everything is nice and oily. it should take care of it unless its a clang/clank sound. mine makes a top-out sound if i compress it then wheelie. maybe your oil level is low and the wiper seals are dry and dont slide over the stanchions smoothly.

just curious, black or polished?

Yep take it apart check everything, then lube the stanchions with slick honey.
