It's official, if familiar: Perry's in

"It's about me doing my duty," he said. "It's about bringing some principles and vision to this country that give people hope that America's finest and greatest days are ahead of us, they're not behind us."

Perry also listed four campaign themes — job creation, low taxes, limited regulation and "a legal system that does not allow for over-suing."

"I'm going to lay out a positive, bright future tied to the vision I have of going to Washington, D.C., and making a difference," Perry said
Gawddammit, why ain't somebody thought of that approach yet?

http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/08/11/moore.perry.candidate/index.html

A C and D student, who hates to govern, loves to campaign, and barely has a sixth grader's understanding of economics, [Rick Perry] will lead our nation into oblivion.
Other gems:

The Christian prayer rally in Houston was a very loud proclamation to fundamentalists and Teavangelicals, which said, "I am not a Mormon." The far right and Christian fundamentalists have an inordinate amount of influence in the GOP primary process and, regardless of messages of inclusion, very few of them will vote for a Mormon.
Because presidential politics tend to be more visceral than intellectual, Perry's coyote-killer good looks, $2,000 hand-tooled cowboy boots, supernova smile and Armani suits, combined with podium skills to embellish the mythology of Texas, all will create a product Americans will want to believe and buy.
When the cold rains fall in early November next year, unemployed voters in places like Ohio will step into the booth and dream of a minimum wage job in the Texas sun selling fishing rods at big box sporting goods stores or working in call centers; they will vote against Barack Obama.

And in the process, they will write the epitaph to set upon the tombstone of history's greatest democracy: Perry-Palin, 2012.

At this rate I will be voting democrat.
huh?

what do you mean "at this rate"? who were you waiting for to join the race? I could think maybe Jesus--but he is arguably a democrat. Any sensible republican is staying as far away from this clusterfvck as possible... (unfortunately...).

But I agree... Democrat it is.

i say we all get on the ron paul bandwagon. he's old and a little guy anyway, so if he says anything stupid the speaker of the house could just threaten to give him a wedgie to shut him up.

there's one thing that always bothered me about our political system. i have more choices of cereal to buy in shoprite than i do choices for president. at the rate people are signing up to run for president for the republican party, i may finally be able to have that issue resolved.

heh.... true enough.

which begs the question-- as of now the tea-tards think Obama is Stalin incarnate; their heads would probably explode if a real democrat with a backbone was president.
And maybe our economy would start to turn around. Or is doing what economists generally say to do not such a good idea???

Ron Paul is either racist or stupid.

Now, granted, most the rest of the GOP candidates are racist AND stupid, so that does give him a leg up, I guess...
nothing says party like a rand/ron paul fund raiser......
