Hi again,

Before I go out and order a set of Avid mechs., I want to know what people think of the Magura Louise & Louise Freerides. I used to have a set of HS-33s, which had great modulation. Should I expect the same from their discs? And are the of "adequate" power?

Thanks!

colin, if you are looking for a brake for all around riding like cross country and general stuff like that a mechanical brake like the avids are more than just good enough. the magura brakes like the louise are awsome, fairly light brakes, they do have good modulation and stopping power. if you want something for downhilling or some extreme stopping power for the riding you are doing then a hydraulic would be the way to go. just remember, anything you choose has benifits and drawbacks. mechanical brakes (mainly rear brake with full housing) have the issue of power loss through cable Flex, for example. hydros have the drawback of being hydraulic and cutting a line or bleeding brakes from time to time is not as easy as replacing a stainless cable. think and choose. all the brakes you are looking at are excellent to say the least, i dont think you'll be disappointed with any of them.
